When I first saw The Suicide Squad’s sneak peek, it blew me away. The movie promises to be a gritty 1970s war movie combined with brilliant comedy and characters.
The first person to catch my attention in the trailer was, of course, Harley Quinn.
After starring in Birds of Prey, Margot Robbie reprises her role as the stunning, but chaotic clown psychologist. Based on the trailer, it seems Harley will have a huge role in the movie and an exciting story arc (like she should).
But that’s not all.
Meet The Rest of The Squad
Before releasing the trailer, the film’s director, James Gunn, broke the internet by revealing the Suicide Squad cast and character list. Since Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is not a reboot and takes place in the same universe as 2016’s Suicide Squad, the movie’s cast comprises both recurring and new characters.
Take a look:
The movie’s recurring cast includes Viola Davis (as Amanda Waller), Joel Kinnaman (as Colonel Rick Flag), Margot Robbie (as Harley Quinn), and Jai Courtney (as Boomerang).
However, The Squad also has some new members including Michael Rooker (as Savant), Flula Borg (as Javelin, David), Dastmalchian (as Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (as Ratcatcher 2), Idris Elba (as Bloodsport), Mayling Ng (as Mongal), Peter Capaldi (as Thinker), Alice Braga (as Sol Soria), Pete Davidson (as Blackguard), Sean Gunn (as Weasel), John Cena (as Peacemaker), and Steve Agee (as King Shark).
James Gunn also revealed that the movie would also star Storm Reid (as Tyla), Jennifer Holland (as Emilia Harcourt), and Joaquin Cosio (as General Mateo Suarez)- who many believe is the film’s villain.
We still have no word on what role Thor Ragnarok Director Taika Waititi will play.
But most fans believe that Taika will do the voice over for King Shark, while Steve Agee does the motion caption for the character.
What’s interesting about this Suicide Squad movie is that the film mostly consists of obscure DC characters. And it’s going to be interesting to see how James Gunn uses them to deliver an epic experience.
As a fan of Task Force X, I have always wanted to see a faithful live-action adaption hit the big screen. And judging from this trailer, I think come 2021 we might finally get it.
The Suicide Squad will hit Theatres on August 6, 2021.
